For relocating families, the availability of good educational opportunities for their children is no doubt a primary consideration. If you’re a parent interested in real estate in Sugar Land, you’ll be glad to know that schools in Sugar Land aren’t just good, they’re great.

Most of the real estate in Sugar Land is zoned to the Fort Bend Independent School District, with a few areas, including some of those in the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction, served by the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District. The Fort Bend ISD is Texas’ seventh largest and consistently receives high ratings from the Texas Education Agency. In 2002, 70 percent of its campuses were rated “Exemplary” or “Recognized” and the ISD as a whole was given a “Recognized District” rating. Also part of Sugar Land Real Estate, Fort Bend ISD’s Austin, Clements and Elkins high schools were included in Newsweek’s prestigious list of the top 1000 high schools in the country. Austin and Clements were also named among the state’s top 10 high schools by Texas Monthly magazine.
The master-planned communities of Canyon Gate at the Brazos, Greatwood, River Park and Tara Colony are zoned to the Lamar Consolidated ISD, which is also a high-performing district. The ISD’s Ray Elementary School was nominated as a 2008 Blue Ribbon School, and its Austin Elementary was awarded the Blue Ribbon in 2006.

The city is also home to various privae schools, as well as the Wharton County Junior College and the University of Houston System at Sugar Land.
